About The Team
The City Inspectorate branch is responsible for enforcement of the City's standards and local laws, across building, community, public safety and environmental health compliance to protect safety and amenity for the City's residents and visitors. The Community Compliance business unit is responsible for delivering animal management initiatives to residents including patrols and enforcement, impounding and off leash facilities, pet education, and complaints management, to ensure animals are appropriately cared for and managed in compliance with legislation.

About Your New Role
Animal Management Officers are responsible for undertaking compliance, education and proactive programs within the Community. We provide practical solutions to achieve compliance while enhancing the overall well-being of our community, our pet owners and their pets. Hours range between 6:00am and 6:00pm and you must be willing to work over a 7-day roster. Animal Management Officers participate on the on-call roster, attending to call-outs and emergencies as part of the role.

Position Responsibilities

  • Conduct proactive patrols and respond to a variety of Animal based complaints across the City.
  • Deliver appropriate and equitable regulatory action such as warnings and infringement notices in a professional manner.
  • Impound/seize animals found wandering at large or posing a threat to public safety.
  • Participate in Animal Management community awareness and engagement activities such as school presentations, community events and public consultation sessions.

  • Are someone who strives to do your best and have a desire to expand your knowledge and skills. You are open to receiving feedback and can provide constructive input on how we can continually improve our processes and service delivery levels.
  • Acknowledge that conflict can sometimes arise in the community and have the maturity, experience and commitment to resolve differences in a positive, calm and respectful manner.
  • Hold a Certificate IV in Government Investigations or have the equivalent knowledge.
  • Hold an unrestricted driver's licence class "C".
