Your Opportunity
As The Manager, Product You Will Be Responsible For
- Lead and inspire the Product team to drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in the design, development, and delivery of high-quality learning and assessment resources.
- Champion the use of technology and innovative practices to enhance product development, ensuring effective, efficient, and future-focused solutions that support TAFE Queensland's strategic objectives.
- Oversee and coordinate budget expenditure for product initiatives, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and achievement of project deliverables within agreed timelines and financial parameters.
- Provide strategic leadership across all product areas—including Course Design, Product Quality, and Commercial/Funded Product—ensuring cohesive and collaborative approaches that deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Foster productive and collaborative relationships with product governance stakeholders, including product owners, sponsors, and leads, to ensure alignment and shared accountability for organisational goals.
- Utilise your educational and product expertise to provide clear direction, supportive leadership, and expert guidance, enabling the achievement of strategic outcomes and the ongoing success of product projects.
This position reports to the Director, Product.
This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity.
The position location is flexible and hybrid, however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor strategic and operational plans that embed innovation, technology adoption, and continuous improvement across all product areas.
- Lead the effective oversight of budget expenditure for product development, ensuring financial accountability and value for money.
- Coordinate and align the activities of Course Design, Product Quality, and Commercial/Funded Product teams to achieve organisational deliverables, including project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies and innovative methodologies to enhance product effectiveness and efficiency.
- Provide expert leadership and support to product teams, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Maintain strong, cohesive relationships with product governance areas, ensuring effective communication, alignment, and shared responsibility for product outcomes.
- Oversee the monitoring and reporting of project progress, risks, and outcomes to senior management and governance committees.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and quality frameworks, and lead the implementation of best practice in educational product development.
- Model and promote TAFE Queensland's values, contributing to transformation and cultural change initiatives.
How You Will Be Assessed
The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
- Strategic Innovation and Technology Leadership: Proven ability to lead and embed a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, including the effective adoption and integration of technology to enhance product development, delivery, and quality outcomes.
- Product and Project Oversight: Demonstrated experience in leading and coordinating multiple product areas, ensuring the achievement of project deliverables—timelines, budgets, and quality standards—through effective planning, monitoring, and reporting.
- Financial and Resource Management: High-level skills in overseeing and managing budgets for product initiatives, ensuring responsible expenditure, value for money, and alignment with organisational priorities.
- Governance and Stakeholder Engagement: Strong capability in building and maintaining productive relationships with product governance stakeholders (including product owners, sponsors, and leads), and in providing clear direction and expert advice to ensure alignment and shared accountability for organisational goals.
- Educational and Product Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of National Training Packages, accredited courses, and relevant legislation, as well as best practice in teaching, learning, assessment, and vocational education and training (VET).
- Leadership and Communication: Highly developed leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to inspire, influence, and support teams; facilitate change; and negotiate persuasively to achieve strategic and project outcomes.
- Continuous Improvement and Change Management: Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of continuous improvement, adaptability, and resilience within a dynamic and evolving environment.
