Our team predominately work in residential type environments including Outreach Support, Youth Residential Out of Home Care as well as supporting emergency placements in crisis accommodation, supervised family contact and placement support arrangements.
About the role:
As a On Call Manager with Yalga Connect, you will be supporting the provision of high-quality culturally appropriate care and practices, to young people in the care of the Department of Child Safety, Women and Children, in line with Yalga Connect policies and procedures, and legislative requirements. You will offer guidance and support to Yalga Connect team members outside of regular business hours, prioritising the safety and wellbeing of team members and young people. You will ensure that best practice standards are upheld, and that high-quality care and responses are provided to young people, particularly in times of crisis. You will be expected to provide a mixture of remote and onsite support to team members within this role.
About you:
The ideal person for this role would be flexible, adaptable, and open to learning. You will have the previously demonstrated ability and skills to work with young people who display highly complex and challenging behaviours along with understanding the complexities and support needs of how to support professionals within this setting.
Mandatory requirements:
- Either hold or be actively working towards a minimum Diploma level qualification within the human services sector.
- Demonstrated knowledge and or willingness to obtain an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures with connections to Aboriginal family networks, organisations, and communities.
- Essential experience; needs to have worked with and alongside Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander people.
- Have completed Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training (or willing to attend in own time)
- Have a strong awareness and understanding of the Child Protection Act, Charter of Rights, Standards of Care, and the Hope and Healing Framework
- Proven leadership skills, with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills - including the ability to negotiate, liaise and consult with young people, staff, colleagues and other service providers
- Experience working with young people who present with challenging behaviours, in a residential setting and/ or outreach setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of trauma informed practice and provision of a therapeutic environment for young people
- Demonstrated high standards of professional and ethical behaviours and sound understanding of boundary issues
- A very high level of computer literacy and proficiency with SharePoint, Microsoft Office Suite and comparable systems
- Current Working with Children Blue Card – Paid (P)
- Current Driver's License – Minimum of P2 level
- Have own vehicle you are willing to utilise for work purposes.
Desired skills and abilities:
- Minimum of 12 months of residential care management experience.
