Position Title: Residential Care Officer

Type of Employment: Full-Time

Location: Casey City Council Area

Your expertise will be the cornerstone of our participants' daily lives and long-term aspirations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Person-Centered Care Excellence: Proactively ensuring every participant receives care precisely tailored to their personal goals and individual needs, consistently demonstrating an understanding of their preferences and support requirements.
  • Empowering Daily Living: Providing comprehensive support with a wide range of daily living activities. This includes sensitive personal care, domestic assistance (such as cleaning and meal preparation), facilitating community access, and driving skill development. You'll adapt your approaches within established guidelines, implementing client skills and activities programmes, and supervising or providing a wide range of personal care services under limited supervision.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Closely monitoring participant progress, identifying significant events, and observing any changes in participant needs or behaviour. You'll be adept at escalating concerns to the Team Leader or Operations Manager with a clear, concise summary of your observations, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.
  • Accurate Documentation: Maintaining accurate, detailed, and timely records, including progress notes, incident reports, and other crucial administrative documentation, all in strict accordance with organisational policies and NDIS requirements.
  • Behaviour Support Plan Implementation: Effectively implementing Behaviour Support Plans, demonstrating a strong understanding of strategies, and promptly reporting any concerns or incidents related to behaviour support directly to the appropriate person within the organisation.
  • Advocacy: Attending participant appointments, including those with doctors, allied health professionals, and other relevant services when necessary. You'll provide essential feedback to Operations Managers and confidently respond to inquiries as appropriate.
  • Team Collaboration & Guidance: Acting as a valuable point of reference for general queries from community workers or volunteers regarding established routines and basic procedures, escalating complex issues to the Operations Manager or Authorised Point of Contact. You'll also assist with familiarising new Community workers with specific participant routines and general site operations under the direction of leadership.
  • Active Participation: Actively attending and participating in team meetings, supervision sessions, and relevant training sessions, consistently contributing to discussions and diligently applying new knowledge to your practice.
  • Administrative Contribution: Providing relevant information and updates for weekly reports to management, contributing to effective service oversight, completing required documentation in a timely manner (e.g., Shift notes, medication checklists), and assisting with other administrative functions such as managing cash payment summaries or applying purchasing and inventory control requirements.
  • Compliance & Quality Assurance: Adhering rigorously to the relevant Code of Conduct, National Standards for Disability Services, and all organisational policies and procedures. You'll also be encouraged to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in service delivery and communicate suggestions to leadership.
  • Proactive Risk Management: Identifying and reporting any potential risks or hazards to participants or staff, adhering to all Work Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures.

    -Supports families and provides education and care for children and disabled persons in adult service units, group housing and government institutions

    -Assesses clients' needs and plans, develops and implements educational, training and support programmes

    -Interviews clients and assesses the nature and extent of difficulties

    -Monitors and reports on the progress of clients

What We're Looking For In You:

- Proven Experience: 2+ years of Experience in the children or disabled persons in group housing or institutional care.

Demonstrated substantial experience in providing direct support to the disabled children/adults, showcasing a deep understanding of diverse needs and effective support strategies.

- Person-Centered Philosophy: A genuine commitment to and understanding of person-centred care principles, always prioritising the individual's choice and control.

- Autonomy & Initiative: The ability to operate with some autonomy, effectively manage your own time, plan, and organise your work, and exercise sound judgment in problem-solving within established guidelines.

- Exceptional Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, essential for clear documentation, effective reporting, and building strong rapport with participants, families, and colleagues.

- Problem-Solving Skills: The capacity to resolve minor work procedural issues and identify potential risks, understanding when to escalate more complex matters.

- Team Player: A collaborative spirit, willing to share knowledge and guide less experienced colleagues while actively participating in team growth.

- Commitment to Compliance: A thorough understanding of and unwavering commitment to adhering to the NDIS Code of Conduct, National Standards for Disability Services, and all relevant policies and procedures.

- Essential Qualifications: Certificate III or IV in Disability is a minimum. You will also be required to provide current certificates such as; CPR, First Aid, NDIS Screening ID, Car Licence, etc.

Salary Range: $70,000-$80,000
