About the role

At Focus ACT, our Team Leaders play a pivotal role in engaging with the individuals we support, taking the time to understand their unique goals and needs. This position acts as a crucial link between clients, Disability Support Workers, and Service Managers – ensuring seamless communication and consistent, high-quality support delivery.

As a Team Leader, you'll be the heart of our person-centred approach, working across various residential locations to directly maintain the high service standards delivered to our participants, while coaching and developing a dedicated team of Disability Support Workers.

This role requires you to exercise sound judgment, implement quality control measures and maintain the strong connection between our residential houses and Service Manager while contributing to Focus ACT's strategic initiatives and continuous improvement culture.

You're an adaptable and proactive leader with genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities to live their lives. You bring experience in disability services, strong leadership capabilities and a commitment to the guiding principles of the NDIS.

Ownership – You take accountability for the quality of support each participant receives and ensure your team delivers consistent person-centred care.

Integrity – You maintain strict confidentiality with participant information and model ethical behaviour.

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with general supervision and collaboratively within teams.
  • Strong capability to explain procedures and practices clearly to staff members.
  • Experience supporting clients in home and community environments.
  • Proven ability to monitor workplace procedures and supervise staff effectively.
  • Accountability for work quality, timeliness and care of entrusted assets.
  • Excellent communication skills that support our diverse client and staff community.
  • Flexibility, adaptability and resilience with strong problem-solving skills
  • Availability for on-call support outside regular hours when needed.
  • Working knowledge of NDIS Code of Conduct and relevant disability legislation.

Job requirements:

  • Certificate III in Disability Support (minimum)
  • Valid WWVP Registration including NDIS Activities
  • National Police Check less than 3 months old (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Current Australian Drivers licence
  • Own registered vehicle with comprehensive insurance
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Strong organisational skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
