The position

Are you passionate about shaping young lives and creating a supportive, vibrant community? Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Deputy Director of Boarding to play a key leadership role in fostering a warm, inclusive, and enriching environment for our boarding students.

In this dynamic position, you'll work closely with the Director of Boarding to provide outstanding pastoral care, academic support, and engaging supervision, ensuring every student feels at home. You'll have the opportunity to organise exciting weekend activities and excursions, enriching the boarding experience and creating lifelong memories for our students.

This is more than just a leadership role—it's a chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people. As a positive role model, you'll set high professional standards, nurture students' wellbeing, and cultivate a true "home away from home." You'll also step in to lead the team in the Director's absence, ensuring consistency and care in all aspects of boarding life.

We are looking for a calm, proactive, and compassionate leader who can balance firm but fair communication with a deep sense of empathy and support. If you are ready to take on a rewarding and fulfilling role in a vibrant and caring school community, we'd love to hear from you

Join us and be part of something truly special at CGGS.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • An understanding of adolescent behaviour and caring for students' needs in a residential environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in education, health, allied health or counselling (preferred)
  • Demonstrated sound judgement, tact and discretion.
  • High level communication skills, both verbal and written in order to communicate with various stakeholders in the Boarding House Community
  • Proven organisational skills and ability to manage multiple events concurrently and seamlessly
  • A full ACT drivers' licence
  • An ACT WWVP card and national police check (this is an essential item before starting the role).

As Boarding House positions involve responsibility for the care of female boarders between the ages of 12 and 18, we are seeking female applicants only.
