About the Role

We're looking for an experienced and qualified Spray Painter / Surface Finisher & Panel Beater to join our growing team as an RPL Assessor.

In this role, you'll use your industry expertise to assess and validate candidates' existing skills and experience against nationally recognised trade qualifications. You'll play a vital part in helping skilled tradespeople gain the recognition they deserve for the work they've already done.

You don't need a TAE yet; we'll support you to complete your Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) and cover the costs for you.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments for candidates in Automotive Refinishing, Surface Finishing, and Panel Beating (and Metal Fabrication if applicable).
  • Review and verify evidence of competency, including portfolios, work samples, and on-site demonstrations, post enrolment stage.
  • Maintain accurate and organised assessment records and reports.
  • Work collaboratively with TSA's compliance and administration teams to support smooth processing of qualifications.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to help candidates demonstrate their skills effectively.

About You

You're a hands-on tradesperson with strong industry experience and a passion for helping others grow. You might already have some mentoring or supervisory experience, or simply enjoy sharing your trade knowledge.

Essential Criteria:

  • Trade qualification in Automotive Refinishing Technology, Spray Painting, or Body Repair Technology (Certificate III or higher).
  • Recent industry experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A current driver's licence and willingness to travel (if required).

Highly Desirable:

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) — or willingness to obtain (we'll pay for it).
  • Experience or qualifications in Welding or Boilermaking — highly regarded.
  • Previous experience training, mentoring, or supervising apprentices.
