Clinical Assistant

In this position you will work in the Core Chemistry unit. This unit performs routine chemical pathology investigations, drugs of abuse testing and therapeutic drug monitoring, arterial blood gases, immunoassay investigations, selected serology, and protein assays. You will be responsible for managing the procurement processes in the unit, this includes ordering, receipting stock and performing stocktakes.
What you'll do
- Work cooperatively and communicate effectively within the team and with clients, both internal and external to the laboratory.
- To work with independence and professionalism, and demonstrate sound problem-solving skills, commensurate with level of experience.
- Participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve patient care and client
- Develop a sound knowledge laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.
- Be prepared to engage flexibility in the scientific, technical and IT aspects of the position to help maintain Pathology Queensland as the preferred provider of Pathology Services for Queensland.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Resilience, well-developed communication skills and ability to contribute positively to a team environment are essential.
- Experience in or the ability to rapidly learn pathology pre-analytical processes, e.g., sorting, coding, data entry, aliquoting, storage, retrieval of specimens in a large and complex core laboratory unit.
- Proven ability to solve problems and show initiative in the workplace.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively in a highly process driven environment with competing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to focus in a busy, complex environment.
- Highly developed customer focus with experience dealing with a variety of people and a high level of awareness of impact of the individual on the overall customer experience.
- Nil mandatory qualifications are required for this role although a Certificate III Pathology (or similar) or ability to gain this qualification is desirable.
