Senior Clinical Trials Assistant

What you'll do
- Operationally manage and perform pre-analytical processes consistently and accurately, by maintaining focus and competence in the various areas within the clinical trials unit.
- Comply and critically review trial specific procedures and documentation requirements.
- Develop knowledge and expertise in handling clinical trials / research specimens through active learning within the team and by engaging in professional development activities.
- Perform quality duties relating to the role including document control, staff training and record keeping, whilst upholding Good Laboratory Practice and Good Clinical Practice principles.
- Provide high quality administrative support for the unit, e.g., triaging phone calls and emails, study setup, creating meeting agendas, note taking and meeting minutes.
- Work with independence, professionalism and demonstrate sound problem-solving skills.
- Propose initiatives to improve client service within the unit and across the broader organisation.
- Develop a sound knowledge of NATA/ISO accreditation/certification requirements including performing quality control procedures, assisting with preparation of documents and completion of relevant statistics.
About you
We are searching for someone who has:
- Demonstrates expertise to preform pre-analytical processes, e.g., sorting, aliquoting, addition of reagents, parcel management, storage, retrieval of specimens etc, in a complex laboratory unit.
- Demonstrates expertise in laboratory information system functionality, the interpretation of request forms and the ability to perform rapid and accurate data entry.
- Demonstrates high level interpersonal skills, communication skills, delegation skills and negotiation skills, and the ability to work productively both independently and in a team environment.
- Demonstrates initiative and a proactive attitude in the workplace, and expert ability to apply complex reasoning, dynamic problem-solving and logical reasoning when troubleshooting issues.
- Advanced level leadership skills with the ability to train newer staff and a demonstrated willingness to succeed.
- Proven ability to manage time effectively with a strong attention to detail in a highly complex and process driven environment, with competing priorities.
- Demonstrates strong customer-focused approach by effectively engaging with a diverse range of clients, exceeding expectations, and enhancing overall satisfaction.
- Proven understanding of laboratory quality systems and the requirements of NATA accreditation and ISO certification.
- Awareness of the human resource management policies applicable to contemporary workplaces.
