As a Junior Landscape Design Draftsperson, your primary role will be to prepare detailed, accurate CAD documents for our design team to refine and finalize. You will work closely with senior designers and landscape architects, ensuring that the necessary technical drawings and plans are produced efficiently. A solid understanding of state and local compliance requirements is desirable, as you'll be working on projects that must meet specific regulations.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare CAD Drawings: Draft site plans, planting plans, grading plans, hardscape layouts, irrigation designs, and other technical documents in ArchiCAD (or other CAD platforms) for designers to build upon.
  • Compliance: Ensure that drawings adhere to relevant state and local authority compliance and zoning regulations.
  • Collaborate with Designers: Work closely with senior designers and project managers to clarify requirements and deliver accurate technical drafts that align with project objectives.
  • Revise and Update Drafts: Make revisions and updates to CAD documents based on feedback from designers and clients, ensuring designs are up to date and compliant.
  • Documentation: Maintain and organize project files, including revisions, specifications, and related technical documents.
  • Work Under Deadlines: Complete tasks in a timely manner, ensuring that documentation is ready for review and handover to the design team.
  • Prepare for Handover: Ensure all documents are structured correctly for handover to the senior design team for further detailing.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Landscape Architecture, Landscape Design, or a related field, or currently working towards one.
  • Proficiency in CAD software is highly preferred with ArchiCAD experience beneficial
  • Knowledge of landscape design principles, including grading, drainage, planting plans, and hardscaping.
  • Familiarity with local and state authority compliance requirements for landscape design projects (zoning, permitting, regulations).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to create accurate, high-quality drafts.
  • Good understanding of landscape construction techniques and documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • A portfolio of previous work (academic or professional) showcasing CAD drafting skills is desirable. TAFE/University assignments are acceptable
