We're a fast-growing software consulting company with a team of 30 talented professionals delivering innovative solutions to clients across Australia, New Zealand, UK and Ireland. With annual revenue of ~A$10 million and a strong pipeline of projects, we're entering our next stage of growth and are looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to take ownership of our finance and operations function.


The Opportunity

This is a newly created role reporting directly to the CEO. You'll oversee all aspects of financial management, compliance, and reporting, while also providing commercial insights to guide strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all financial reporting, including monthly management accounts, board packs, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax, and statutory obligations.
  • Oversee the work of the accountant (AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, billing, debtor management).
  • Drive process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to provide financial insights, scenario modelling, and support for business decisions.
  • Manage audit, banking, and external advisor relationships.

About You

  • CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years' experience in finance management, ideally with exposure to professional services, consulting, or technology sectors.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to produce accurate, insightful financial reports and forecasts.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to turn numbers into actionable insights.
  • Hands-on, proactive, and comfortable operating in a small, fast-paced business.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
