Financial Controller – Fashion Retail

Salary: $230,000 + super

Location: Sydney

Are you a commercially minded finance leader with a passion for retail and fashion? This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading fashion retailer as their Financial Controller, playing a pivotal role in driving financial performance, strategy, and operational excellence.

The Role as Financial Controller, you will oversee the end-to-end finance function, ensuring strong financial governance, compliance, and strategic insight to support business growth. Partnering with the executive team, you will deliver timely and accurate financial reporting while identifying opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the finance function, managing reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
  • Deliver accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Partner with the leadership team to provide commercial insights and support decision-making.
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across the business.
  • Oversee cash flow management, working capital, and treasury functions.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, tax obligations, and audit processes.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
  • Implement process improvements and system enhancements to support growth.

About You

  • CPA/CA qualified with experience in senior finance roles
  • Proven track record in financial leadership, ideally within retail, fashion, or consumer industries
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent commercial acumen
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to influence and build strong cross-functional relationships
  • Experience managing and developing teams
  • A strategic thinker with attention to detail and a hands-on approach
