Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, implementing effective safety programs, and promoting a safe working environment across all industries. This role requires a mixture of hands-on activity and strategic thinking.

As a Group resource, time will be divided across our businesses, although most work will be completed within Nambour (Sunshine Coast) with travel to Cobram (Victoria) and Brisbane (Newstead). To be successful you will require strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. This role will be an initial 12-month contract, with the possibility of permanency depending on future growth of the business, achievements and systems implemented.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety risk management processes
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Provide guidance and support to management and employees on health and safety matters.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Setting up applicable safety management systems
  • Ensuring a psychologically safe workplace
  • Providing regular management reports to General Managers and Executives on lead and lag indicators
  • Deliver training programs to educate employees on safe work practices and emergency procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and changes in health and safety regulations, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain emergency response plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives, and make necessary adjustments as required.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related qualification
  • 5 years+ experience in similar roles
  • Professional certifications in incident analysis (ICAM/TapRoot)
  • Proficiency in using computer software and applications related to health and safety management
