The Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (MCB) is evolving We've recently reviewed our HR operating model and are transitioning from transactional methods to a dynamic business partnering approach. Our People and Capability team is dedicated to adding value through centralised HR functions that support the entire employee lifecycle, enabled by technology and skilled professionals to meet business needs.

In this dynamic and strategic position, you'll work closely with leaders across the organisation to deliver high-impact HR solutions that drive performance, engagement, and growth. Some of the 
key responsibilities
 include (but are not limited to):

  • Partner with leaders to design and implement workforce strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Provide expert advice on employment legislation, workplace issues, and people management practices.
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment, selection, and appointment processes.
  • Support the design and delivery of employee development and training programs.
  • Advise on organisational structure, job design, and classification matters.
  • Manage sensitive employee relations issues including performance, grievances, and discipline.
  • Contribute to change management initiatives and organisational development strategies.
  • Ensure HR systems and processes support compliance and business needs.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver strategic HR outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of integrity, transparency, and continuous improvement.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have as a minimum: 

  1. Significant relevant experience delivering HR services, support and expertise that meet the needs of customers and stakeholders and support the organisation to achieve its vision, mission and strategic priorities.
  2. Demonstrated professional knowledge and experience of relevant human resources legislation and development frameworks and their impact on employment, people management and business outcomes.
  3. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to coach and influence others, including effective negotiation and consultation with a range of stakeholders.
  4. Experience in developing, facilitating and evaluating training programs to build workforce and leadership capability.
  5. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, work collaboratively, and contribute to business outcomes through agility and solution focus.

Desirable

  1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as business management, human resource management, organisational psychology, public sector management, or similar qualifications.
