About The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance and taxation professional to join a highly regarded public sector organisation. The
Advisory Officer
will contribute to the preparation of financial and taxation reports, provide analysis to support management decision-making, and assist in ensuring compliance with government and ATO standards. Working within a collaborative tax team, this role will support both individual and trust portfolios, helping to meet increased service demand.
- Advisory Officer - tax and accounting - $41.93 p/h + super
- Location: Parramatta
- WFH: 2 days per week
- Duration: 01 November 2025 to 30 June 2026 with possible extension
- Hours: 35 hours per week (7 hours per day)
- Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Analyse financial trends, costs, revenues, and obligations to forecast future performance.
- Prepare and lodge income tax returns for individuals, trusts, and deceased estates.
- Provide insights and recommendations on resource utilisation, tax strategies, and budgeting assumptions.
- Support the preparation of financial forecasts and assist in developing budget plans.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams to meet reporting deadlines and service standards.
- Maintain accurate records using tax and accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, or Reckon Elite.
- Assist in improving financial reporting processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Uphold confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism in all financial dealings.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
- 4-6 years of experience in financial reporting, taxation, or a similar accounting role.
- Sound understanding of financial management principles, budgeting, and compliance.
- Demonstrated experience in tax preparation for individuals and trusts.
- Proficiency in MYOB, Xero, or Reckon Elite.
- Completion of an H&R Block course or equivalent tax training is highly regarded.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads effectively in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to undergo a National Criminal Record Check and provide two recent professional references.
- Must have full Australian working rights (citizenship, permanent residency, or long-term visa holders)
