Role Specification

Platinum Pacific Partners is partnering with a leading Australian Private Credit fund in Melbourne. The role is a Senior Associate role within the Agriculture investment team. The Agriculture team currently manages close to $1bn of FUM within a wider real assets strategy.

The current Agriculture investment team comprises of a Portfolio Manager and two Associate Directors. The team is responsible for three key tasks: origination, execution, and portfolio management. This role will focus primarily on the latter two—execution and portfolio management—with a particular emphasis on deal due diligence and execution. Secondary responsibilities include loan portfolio management (e.g. drawdowns), new deal review/screening, and investor reporting. The day-to-day will involve complex financial analysis and report writing.

The team deploys capital into financing deals across Dairy, Horticulture, Protein, Cropping, Forestry, Food Processing, Fibre (Cotton), Infrastructure, and Supply Chain. Deals can be originated across Australia and New Zealand. The typical ticket size is $20–40m, although the team transacts within a range of $10–120m. On average, the team deploys into 10 deals per year, with typical return hurdles for private credit. Investors include both wholesale and institutional clients.

Target Candidate

The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of four years' experience in a corporate transactions-related role, likely gained through advisory work in corporate finance, investment banking, or restructuring. The candidate must demonstrate strong commercial acumen and analytical skills. Our client is open to training candidates in credit and debt structuring. Candidates with a background in commercial banking will not be considered.

Candidates will be seen favourably if they are CA or CFA qualified, they must show a strong academic background or success in professional endeavours. The team has found that the most successful investors in the Agriculture sector have a genuine passion for it. Therefore, the suitable candidate must have either a personal connection to the sector or a demonstrated interest in it.
