About the Role
As a Senior Speech Pathologist within CALHN's General Rehabilitation Services, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care to adults with complex neurological and rehabilitation needs. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide expert assessment and intervention for patients experiencing swallowing, communication, and cognitive disorders across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. Your leadership will help ensure that each patient receives goal-based, evidence-informed care tailored to their individual needs and rehabilitation journey.
In this pivotal role, you will also provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and education to emerging speech pathologists, assistants, and students, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth. You will contribute to the development and implementation of Models of Care, patient pathways, and CALHN-wide initiatives that enhance rehabilitation outcomes and service quality. As an advocate for excellence in clinical practice, you will help shape and advance speech pathology services within CALHN, supporting continuous improvement and innovation across the broader allied health network.
About You
You are a passionate and experienced Speech Pathologist dedicated to helping adults with neurological conditions and acquired brain injuries regain their independence and quality of life. You thrive in a multidisciplinary environment where collaboration, compassion, and clinical excellence drive patient outcomes. With strong leadership, critical thinking, and a commitment to evidence-based care, you bring both expertise and empathy to every aspect of your work.
- Clinical Expertise: Hold a recognised degree in Speech Pathology (eligible for full membership with Speech Pathology Australia) and have at least three years of post-qualification experience in managing complex neurological and brain injury cases.
- Collaborative Leadership: Skilled in multidisciplinary teamwork, supervision, and mentoring, with the ability to foster a culture of inclusion, critical thinking, and mutual respect across diverse teams.
- Evidence-Based Practice: Apply sound professional judgement, research-informed approaches, and a patient-centred mindset to assessment, treatment, and service improvement within rehabilitation and health settings.
- Commitment to Excellence: Demonstrate flexibility, innovation, and professionalism, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, quality outcomes, and adherence to national standards and best-practice guidelines.
