JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Welder & Metal Fabricator

HOURS: 85hrs fortnight

LOCATION: 6 Albany Hwy, WILLIAMS, 6391. Travel to job sites may be required on a needs basis.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Welder & Metal Fabricator uses hand-welding equipment and/or semi-automated equipment to weld or join metal construction and fabrication components.

Main responsibilities and duties include:

  • Read drawings, work orders and production schedules to determine product or job

instructions and specifications

  • Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock
  • Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches

and metal cutting machines

  • Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by

heating and hammering

  • Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
  • Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
  • Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
  • Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing, painting or bathing in acidic solutions
  • Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
  • Mark off and fabricate structural steel and other metal stock to make or repair metal

products and structures

  • Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials or products and notify

supervisors

  • Assist other staff in daily work tasks
  • Other duties as required

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

  • Trade qualifications in Metal Fabrication / Welding / Boilermaking (or equivalent

experience)

  • Valid C Class drivers licence, forklift license advantageous

Experience: 2 years previous experience in an similar role/industry

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $77,000.00 – $97,000.00 per year
