Why You Will Be Excited About This Role
At Healius, we all have one thing in common, we are passionate about making a difference to the health of Australians. And right now, it's a pretty exciting time to join us, as we transform into a stronger, more agile organisation focused on creating excellent customer and patient experiences, smarter ways of working and building a great place to work.
As part of this transformation, Healius is reimagining healthcare through digital innovation, data intelligence and customer-centric design. The diagnostics industry is evolving rapidly, and we are investing in advanced clinical systems, AI-driven insights and cloud-based platforms to improve the diagnostics journey for patients, doctors and ologists.
This role offers the opportunity to lead enterprise-wide data initiatives that will shape the future of healthcare delivery. You will join a collaborative and forward-thinking team, working with emerging technologies to drive meaningful change in a flexible, purpose-driven environment.
About Us
Healius employs 8,000+ passionate people, with an expansive network of over 100 medical laboratories and 2000 patient collection centres operating across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia.
We provide 1 in every 3 pathology services in Australia, extending from exclusively servicing some of Australia's largest and most complex private and public hospitals, to small Indigenous Australian communities.
This means that you will be working with purpose whilst being a part of a business big enough to offer interstate mobility, job security and opportunities to fulfill your career ambitions.
What You Will Be Doing
As Head of Data, you will play a pivotal role in enabling trusted, connected, and intelligent use of data across all business domains. You will help unlock the full potential of clinical systems, digital experiences, and AI-driven decision-making. Leading a high-performing team, you will embed a culture of data excellence while driving innovation across Healius' digital transformation journey.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Define and lead the enterprise data strategy, aligned to Healius' broader transformation roadmap
- Design and optimise a cloud-native data platform using Snowflake, Informatica, and Azure Data Factory
- Enable natural-language data interactions and AI-assisted analytics via Snowflake Cortex Agent and Analyst
- Establish enterprise-wide data architecture, governance, and quality frameworks
- Deliver master data management capabilities to support trusted, reusable data assets
- Partner with analytics teams to operationalise data for reporting, predictive modelling, and automation
- Drive modernisation initiatives, including migration from legacy systems and adoption of APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture
- Champion a data-as-a-product mindset to empower business units with self-service insights
- Lead and mentor a national data function, fostering innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Provide thought leadership on emerging technologies to keep Healius at the forefront of data and AI innovation
What Type of Person Will Be Successful
We are looking for a strategic and hands-on data leader who thrives in complex environments and is passionate about using technology to drive meaningful change. You will be curious, collaborative and confident in challenging the status quo to deliver smarter, more connected healthcare solutions.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven experience leading enterprise data transformations in complex environments
- Deep technical expertise in Snowflake, including Cortex capabilities
- Advanced proficiency with Informatica and Azure Data Factory for ETL/ELT orchestration
- Strong understanding of data governance, metadata and master data management

- Familiarity with NoSQL, GraphDB, OLTP and OLAP architectures
- Demonstrated success in cloud migration and modernisation initiatives
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all organisational levels.
- Proven ability to build and mentor technical teams, driving adoption of best practices and new technologies.
- Healthcare industry experience is welcome, but not essential
