Adelaide, South Australia Department for Infrastructure and Transport, South Australia Full time $98,478 - $104,165 per year

Department for Infrastructure and Transport

Job reference: 699340

Location: ADELAIDE

Job status: Long Term Contract

Eligibility: Open to Everyone

At the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, we are connecting South Australia to keep our State moving. We are responsible for delivering a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of transformative transport and social infrastructure projects, operating and maintaining thousands of kilometres of roads and managing our city's public transport network.

Our work encompasses every part of our State; from our cities to our regions, connecting and strengthening community. We value diversity and inclusion and foster an environment of collaboration, flexibility, and support for our people.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a passionate Senior Engagement Officer to join our Engagement team and play a key role in shaping how communities and stakeholders contribute to major projects across South Australia.

In this role, you'll lead the development and delivery of integrated engagement plans, providing senior advice on often complex and sensitive matters. You'll work closely with business units to ensure projects are informed by meaningful community and stakeholder input, while identifying opportunities, risks, and solutions to guide decision-making.

As a trusted advisor, you'll manage engagement activity across multiple projects and, at times, lead external consultant resources to deliver outcomes. You'll be part of a supportive team that values collaboration, diversity, and continuous learning, with opportunities to grow your skills while making a real impact.

About You

Strategic communicator – You are a strategic thinker who can develop and deliver integrated stakeholder engagement strategies for diverse audiences, using clear and tailored messaging.

Insightful problem solver – You bring strong research and analytical skills to evaluate complex information, identify opportunities and risks, and provide expert, evidence-based advice. You handle sensitive information with tact, diplomacy and discretion.

Results driven – You have exceptional project planning and time management skills, able to juggle multiple priorities while delivering engagement activities that create impact, support decision-making, and build trust with stakeholders.

Influential collaborator – You are skilled in navigating sensitive negotiations, building strong relationships, and influencing outcomes. Your interpersonal skills help you foster credibility, trust, and confidence with internal teams, external stakeholders, and strategic networks.

If this sounds like you, and you're ready to make a real impact in shaping engagement across South Australia, we'd love to hear from you.
