Accountant & Bookkeeper Wanted in North Sydney (Part-Time)

Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping and Financial Records
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
- Manage the general ledger to ensure all transactions are recorded correctly.
Project Accounting
- Track, report, and analyze project costs and budgets.
- Collaborate with project managers to prepare financial forecasts and support decision-making.
Compliance and Lodgements
- Prepare and lodge monthly and quarterly BAS and other statutory requirements on time.
- Assist in meeting compliance obligations, including end-of-year financial statements and audits.
Tax Planning and Advisory
- Provide tax planning strategies to optimise our financial position.
- Keep the director updated on changes to tax regulations and their implications.
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Generate regular financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Offer insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and operational efficiencies.
Strategic Advice for Growth
- Collaborate with the leadership team to align accounting processes with business goals.
- Identify and implement process improvements to support scale-up and new revenue streams.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience
:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in accounting, bookkeeping, and tax compliance, ideally within a small to medium-sized business environment.
- Experience working with software development or technology clients is highly regarded.
Professional Expertise
:
- CA/CPA qualification (or near completion) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Australian accounting regulations and taxation laws.
Technical Proficiency
:
- Proficiency with accounting software (Xero) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Comfort with project-based accounting and management tools.
Soft Skills
:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving capability.
- Ability to work autonomously and efficiently under minimal supervision.
Availability
:
- Must be able to work in our Sydney office one day per week (with potential for additional remote support as needed).
- Immediate start preferred.
