About the Role:

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network is seeking a Nurse Practitioner Candidate to join the team within our Neurology Department.

The Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) is a leading provider of public healthcare services in South Australia.

As a Nurse Practitioner Candidate, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive care to individuals living with epilepsy. Your expertise and compassion will be instrumental in enhancing the quality of life for patients and their families. This position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

Working in a dynamic environment, you will thrive on the challenges that come with providing exceptional care. Your ability to remain calm under pressure, make informed decisions and effectively communicate with patients, families and colleagues will be essential to your success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • perform comprehensive patient assessments
  • develop and implement individualised treatment plans in collaboration with the healthcare team
  • provide advanced nursing care, including prescribing medications and ordering diagnostic tests
  • educate patients and their families on disease management and preventative measures
  • contribute to the continuous improvement of protocols and procedures

Nurses classified at this level are working towards becoming an expert and being able to provide extended practice in their specialist field, within their scope of practice. They develop their capacity for extended practice by increasing their knowledge and skills through ongoing clinical exposure, post graduate qualifications and mentoring, with supervision by an authorised nurse practitioner and / or medical staff.

To be eligible for this position, you will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Must be enrolled (or be eligible to enrol) in an NMBA approved program of study leading to endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
