Operations Supervisor

This is a hands-on role responsible for the allocation and dispatch of fleet operations, driver supervision, and service performance across a range of specialised transport activities. You will ensure compliance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction while supporting business growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, allocate and schedule deliveries and pickups in line with customer and legislative requirements
  • Manage driver recruitment, onboarding, training, and compliance (including Fatigue and Chain of Responsibility)
  • Oversee daily operations including fleet utilisation, maintenance scheduling, and vehicle inspections
  • Liaise with workshop, customers, and internal stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and timely service delivery
  • Monitor and report on operational KPIs, DIFOT performance, and cost efficiencies
  • Ensure all staff comply with PPE, load restraint, and safety policies
  • Support business development projects, customer service, and continuous improvement initiatives

Skills and Experience

  • Strong background in road transport, logistics, or fleet operations
  • Proven supervisory experience managing drivers and vehicles across multi-site operations
  • Sound understanding of NHVR, Fatigue Management, Chain of Responsibility, and speed legislation
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel) and transport management systems (Freightrack experience desirable).
  • Energetic, proactive, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team
