Schools Officer, Grounds

Marsden State High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Schools Officer to join our Grounds and Facilities team.

The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. About the Role

As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities, you will play a vital role in maintaining the school's facilities and grounds to a high standard, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Reporting directly to the Principal, Business Manager, or a nominated delegate, you will perform a variety of routine and non-routine tasks to support the school's operations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintaining school grounds, including mowing, gardening, and general upkeep of outdoor areas and sporting facilities.
• Performing minor repairs and maintenance tasks, including furniture, equipment, and facilities.
• Supporting school events by preparing venues, moving furniture, and assisting with logistics.
• Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including safe storage and handling of chemicals and equipment maintenance.
• Collaborating with staff, students, and external contractors to address maintenance and facility needs.

This role would suit a proactive and dedicated individual who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming school environment.

About You

The following traits would be beneficial:

• Experience in groundskeeping, maintenance, or a similar role.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, particularly in handling chemicals and equipment.
• Strong organisational and time management skills to handle a variety of tasks efficiently.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with staff, students, and external stakeholders.
• A proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving and task completion.
