This is an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal Health Worker to join the Speech Pathology team based at La Perouse, that provides early intervention services for Aboriginal children. The position is part time, 16 hours per week and is temporary up until June 30th, 2026. What you'll be doing
To work as part of a team implementing the CESPHN funded SCH Speech Pathology departments' targeted earlier intervention program, with a focus on screening, early intervention strategies, the development of programs to support vulnerable Aboriginal children and families and to strengthen communities. To work as part of the SCH Speech Pathology team using outreach and soft entry strategies to reach out to Aboriginal families and communities in order to create communities that are safe and supportive for Aboriginal children and families. Provide cultural support for SCH Speech Pathology clients and visitors to the service who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

- Relevant qualifications in health education and/or demonstrated ability to work in Aboriginal health with Aboriginal community-controlled organisations and engage with communities in a health promotion role using a harm reduction approach.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) including ability to engage and motivate people in a wide range of settings.
- . Demonstrated experience in identifying, negotiating and building effective partnerships with key stakeholders particularly in the Aboriginal settings
- . Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and also the ability to work with minimum supervision to deliver agreed outcomes within deadlines.
- Experience in working with, and the knowledge and understanding of, the issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities
