What role will you play?

As the GIS Manager, you will play a crucial role in the Development Team, establishing and managing desktop, web-based and mobile spatial systems and data for development projects, and ensuring the effective use of GIS technology across the organisation. You will work closely with the Development team and other functions to support strategic business priorities, including the Queensland development acceleration portfolio and provide strategic direction for GIS initiatives. You will be responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and implementation of GIS for the development projects, with a priority focus on the Queensland development acceleration program, ensuring they meet organisational goals and objectives. Your role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to address GIS priorities and provide technical expertise.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain GIS databases, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and security.
  • Create and manage GIS maps, applications, and tools to support users including data collection in the field.
  • Conduct spatial analysis and generate reports to provide insights and recommendations for various projects.
  • Develop and implement spatial data policies, procedures, and standards to ensure consistent and effective use of GIS technology.
  • Design and produce accurate and visually appealing maps and graphics using GIS software to support high calibre project communication.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Manager to develop and implement data visualisation standards, guidelines, and quality assurance.
  • Provide technical support and training to staff on the use of GIS tools and applications.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in GIS technology, data visualisation techniques and industry best practices.

What you offer

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geomatic engineering, Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in GIS and spatial services in the renewables, resources, development and / or infrastructure sectors.
  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience in, GIS software and tools, including ArcGIS, QGIS, and other relevant applications.
  • Proven proficiency in data visualisation techniques and design. Advanced spatial data analysis, database management, and GIS project management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for leveraging GIS technology to drive innovation and efficiency.
  • Ability to interpret and apply comprehensive knowledge of relevant laws, standards, regulations and policies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ensuring health, safety, environmental, and quality management practices are implemented for projects.
