After 21 years in business together, the pair behind BEC + BRIDGE have never felt more inspired by what the brand is creating in the Australian fashion industry and, more excitingly still, how Australian design is infiltrating the global market. As women in business, and more specifically, women in the business of fashion, creating a brand that inspires a broad demographic of customers - women of all ages - has become increasingly important to Cooper and Yorston. The designers maintain that the brand, at its very core, must grow with them to ensure it maintains relevance to where they are in their respective lives.

The Role

The Designer works with the Design Directors & Head of Design to develop cohesive seasonal collections which reflect the Bec & Bridge aesthetic. The Designer will help to ensure all deadlines are met in the creation, editing and finalisation of each collection

Key Responsibilities

• Research design concepts, colour direction, trending silhouettes, and new tec
  hniques in response to the seasonal concept.
• Brief Patternmakers & product developers, following the entire design process from initial sketch to approved SMS for allocated fabric stories.
• Provide designs, ensuring they meet the requirements of the range plan across ready-to-wear, event, bridal, tailoring, knitwear, retail exclusives, and accessory categories.
• Provide hand sketches & Photoshop coloured silhouettes for the range board and handover to the development team.
• Assist in the setup and maintenance of the design board.
• Assist accessory design and hardware development, helping to track progress with Accessory Designer.
• Assist the Head of Design with WIP meetings.
• Keep the department progressively moving forward throughout the season, escalating any foreseeable issues to the Directors and Head of Design to be resolved.
• A
  ttend design fit meetings.
• Assist with print developments, helping to liaise with the textile designer.
• Build a library of techniques and references for sourcing and development.
• Assist with styling and merchandising the collection.
• Assist with the lookbook photoshoot,
  ensuring all SMS to be photographed are accurate with styling notes.

Skill Requirements

• A degree or diploma in Fashion Design (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.
• Strong Illustrator and Photoshop skills, with a sharp eye for detail.
• Highly organised, proactive, and adaptable under pressure.
• A natural communicator and collaborator with a positive, solutions-focused mindset.
• Deep passion for design, with the ability to balance creativity and commerciality.
