Who is Heidi?

Heidi is building an AI Care Partner that supports clinicians every step of the way, from documentation to delivery of care.

We exist to double healthcare's capacity while keeping care deeply human. In 18 months, Heidi has returned more than 18 million hours to clinicians and supported over 73 million patient visits. Today, more than two million patient visits each week are powered by Heidi across 116 countries and over 110 languages.

Founded by clinicians, Heidi brings together clinicians, engineers, designers, scientists, creatives, and mathematicians, working with a shared purpose: to strengthen the human connection at the heart of healthcare.

Backed by nearly $100 million in total funding, Heidi is expanding across the USA, UK, Canada, and Europe, partnering with major health systems including the NHS, Beth Israel Lahey Health, MaineGeneral, and Monash Health, among others.

We move quickly where it matters and stay grounded in what's proven, shaping healthcare's next era. Ready for the challenge?

The Role

As Head of Design, you will lead the design discipline at Heidi, driving excellence across product design while working closely with the Head of Brand to ensure our brand expression and product experience are deeply aligned.

You'll own the end to end design strategy for our product suite, shaping how clinicians experience Heidi every day, from onboarding, to workflows, to every interaction in between. This is both a leadership and hands on role: you'll build and mentor a world class design team, define systems that scale, and stay close to the details that make our experiences simple, human, and delightful.

You'll be the kind of designer every other designer wants to be when they grow up. You lead by doing: in the Figma file, in the critique, in the pixels. You set the benchmark for craft, clarity, and precision, inspiring others through the quality of your own work as much as through your leadership.

You'll collaborate deeply with product, engineering, and clinical teams to bring clarity to complex problems, translate insight into elegant solutions, and ensure every design decision reinforces trust in Heidi's mission to give every clinician an AI care partner.

What you'll do:

  • Lead product design:
Guide the end to end design process across Heidi's products, ensuring every experience is intuitive and elegant.
  • Set design vision:
Define and communicate a clear, unified design direction that aligns product and brand, balancing pace with precision.
  • Mentor and grow the team:
Build and nurture a high performing team of product and brand designers who thrive on clarity, autonomy, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead by example
: Set the tone for design quality through your own hands on contribution, feedback, and detail orientation.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Brand:
Partner to align Heidi's visual and experiential identity across every touchpoint, from the interface to the story we tell.
  • Build scalable systems:
Oversee and evolve Heidi's design system to drive consistency, accessibility, and speed without sacrificing craft.
  • Champion quality:
Raise the bar for design excellence through critique, feedback, and hands on involvement, ensuring every detail reflects care, confidence, and precision.
  • Partner across disciplines:
Work closely with engineering, product, and clinical teams to turn complex ideas into clear, human centered solutions that scale globally.
  • Advocate for users:
Bring the voice of clinicians and patients into every decision, ensuring trust, empathy, and effectiveness guide our design choices.

What we will look for:

  • 8+ years of experience in product design, including 3+ years leading high-performing design teams in product led environments.
  • Proven success designing complex digital products, ideally within SaaS, healthtech, or other high trust domains.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional product thinking, strong systems design, and world class craft.
  • Experience collaborating closely with brand or marketing teams to create cohesive product and brand experiences.
  • Deep understanding of design systems, accessibility, and inclusive design principles.
  • Clear, persuasive communication and storytelling skills - you can align, inspire, and influence across disciplines.
  • Strong technical awareness and partnership skills - you understand how great design gets built and how to bring it to life.
  • A bias for clarity, pace, and ownership - you care deeply about the work, the team, and the details that make great products feel effortless.

What do we believe in?

Heidi builds for the future of healthcare, not just the next quarter, and our goals are ambitious because the world's health demands it. We believe in progress built through precision, pace, and ownership.

  • Live Forever - Every release moves care forward: measured, safe, and built to last. Data guides us, but patients define the truth that matters.
  • Practice Ownership - Decisions follow logic and proof, not hierarchy. Exceptional care demands exceptional standards in our work, our thinking, and our character.
  • Small Cuts Heal Faster - Stability earns trust, speed delivers impact. Progress is about learning fast without breaking what people depend on.
  • Get Better - Feedback is direct, kindness is constant, and excellence lifts everyone. Our success is measured by collective growth, not individual output.

Our mission is clear: expand the world's capacity to care, and do it without losing the humanity that makes care worth delivering.

Why you will flourish with us ?

  • Flexible hybrid working environment, with 3 days in the office.
  • Additional paid day off for your birthday and wellness days
  • A generous personal development budget of $500 per annum
  • Learn from some of the best engineers and creatives, joining a diverse team
  • Become an owner, with shares (equity) in the company, if Heidi wins, we all win
  • The rare chance to create a global impact as you immerse yourself in one of Australia's leading healthtech startups
  • If you have an impact quickly, the opportunity to fast track your startup career
