About the role:

This is a hands-on Database and Systems Administrator position within a defence-aligned, high-security environment. You'll be responsible for maintaining and optimising mission-critical databases and server infrastructure that underpin some of Australia's most important technology ecosystems.

The role is evenly split between database administration and systems engineering — managing PostgreSQL and MongoDB environments, ensuring operational stability across Windows and Linux systems, and supporting secure, compliant infrastructure performance.

You'll collaborate with senior engineering and leadership teams to deliver resilient, high-availability solutions while adhering to strict cybersecurity and compliance standards. About you:

  • 5+ years' experience in database and systems administration, ideally in secure or enterprise environments
  • Strong proficiency with PostgreSQL and working knowledge of MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
  • Solid experience with Windows Server and Linux (RHEL or similar) administration
  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V
  • Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and system monitoring tools
  • Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) to automate and optimise workflows
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and access management
  • Experience in defence, government, or critical infrastructure projects is highly regarded
  • NV2 clearance
