Workshop Mechanic

The Workshop Mechanic is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and hands-on rebuilding of heavy vehicle power steering systems. The role includes both workshop-based and on-vehicle repairs, ensuring equipment is serviced to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on heavy vehicle power steering equipment.
  • Rebuild power steering components with precision and attention to detail.
  • Undertake on-vehicle repairs and maintenance where required.
  • Propose alternative technical solutions to customers and communicate benefits.
  • Follow all established quality and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of service work and incident reporting.
  • Identify and address workplace hazards promptly.
  • Collaborate effectively with peers and support team objectives.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Branch Manager.

Skills, Education & Experience

  • Trade qualification as a mechanic, with strong truck/heavy vehicle experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a heavy vehicle mechanic.
  • Prior exposure to heavy vehicle power steering systems and components (highly desirable).
  • Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Safety-conscious, detail-focused, and dependable.
