We're looking for a temporary AO8 Manager, Financial Accounting to lead a dedicated finance team delivering high-quality accounting services across the department. Based at 1 William Street, Brisbane, this role oversees financial reporting, asset management & compliance, while providing expert advice to resolve complex accounting issues. As Manager, Financial Accounting, you'll be responsible for leading the department's financial reporting, asset management and transactional finance services. Your leadership will ensure all financial statements and reports are delivered accurately on time and in line with legislative and compliance requirements. A typical day could involve reviewing financial data, preparing advice on complex accounting issues, meeting with auditors, or guiding your team to resolve operational challenges.
You'll directly manage and mentor three staff members, building their capability and confidence to deliver high-quality financial services. By fostering collaboration, accountability and innovation, you'll create an environment where your team can thrive while continuously improving systems and processes. You'll ensure financial advice and support is accessible, accurate and tailored to the needs of clients and stakeholders across the department.
Your influence will extend beyond your team. You'll work closely with senior leaders, program managers, and external partners to manage financial risks, resolve issues and provide insights that inform critical decisions. You'll also take the lead in developing and implementing strategic solutions to complex accounting challenges, helping the department meet its objectives while driving efficiency and transparency.
This role requires a balance of technical expertise, strong leadership and stakeholder engagement. You'll bring proven experience in financial accounting and asset management, a clear understanding of reporting obligations, and the ability to resolve complex issues under pressure. Your communication skills will be vital in explaining financial matters to diverse audiences and influencing decision-making at senior levels.
