Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) is seeking a strategic and experienced Manager – Financial Accounting Services to lead and oversee central office financial operations. This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence the integrity, efficiency, and accountability of BCE's financial systems while supporting the organisation's mission to deliver high-quality Catholic education.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Manager – Financial Accounting Services will be pivotal in maintaining financial accountability and enhancing operational efficiency across all BCE operations.  Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and oversight of BCE's financial accounting function, ensuring accurate reporting and strong governance.
  • Oversee annual statutory reporting, audits, and taxation obligations, supporting informed decision-making across the organisation.
  • Manage a team delivering core accounting activities including journal and inter-company processing, bank and general reconciliations, chart of account maintenance, , accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement card and treasury management, taxation lodgements and statutory and acquittal reporting.
  • Develop and enhance financial policies, internal controls, and processes to maintain data integrity and compliance with legislation, standards, and Archdiocesan requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within BCE's finance systems, including ERP management, reporting enhancements, process improvement and workflow optimisation.
  • Foster a client-focused culture, providing timely, practical, and reliable financial advice to internal stakeholders and school leaders.

About You

BCE are looking for a senior finance professional who combines technical expertise with strategic leadership and a collaborative approach. To be considered for this role you will ideally have:

  • Degree-qualified in finance, accounting, commerce, or business management; and hold a professional accounting qualifications (CA or CPA).
  • Extensive experience managing financial accounting operations within a large or complex organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards, statutory reporting, taxation, and internal controls.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate high-performing finance teams in a client-service environment.
  • Skilled in implementing system improvements and process enhancements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to translate complex financial information into practical advice.
  • Experience in education/health, not-for-profit, government, or faith-based sectors will be highly regarded.
