Financial Accountant

To support our growth strategy, we are looking for a fulltime Accounts Graduate to join our office Finance Team based in the Brisbane CBD.

This role is part of a talented team, and will undertake daily accounting, analysis and reconciliations across the Group's venues.  Working with the team at times and also autonomously at times, this role's responsibilities are many and include:

• Perform weekly and monthly reporting of accounts payable activities
• Conduct monthly reconciliation for all accounts payable and related accounts
• Provide support to the Accounts Payable department by reviewing invoices, purchase orders and other payments documents
• Performance reimbursements in line with company policies and procedures
• Entering invoices, scrutiny of discrepancies or irregular transactions; coding to the correct account allocation
• Assisting with preparation of payment files
• Liaising with suppliers with invoicing queries
• Maintaining integrity and compliance in line with company policies and procedures

• Other duties will include:

• Assisting accounts receivable with end of day reconciliation for all venues cash receipts.

• General journal entries
• Liaising with venues for any information in relation to sales, deposits, credits and associated transactions.Assisting in the development and implementation of budgetary and accounting policies
• Preparing financial statements and reports for presentation to boards, management teams, shareholders, and regulatory authorities
• Conducting financial analyses and audits, preparing detailed reports, and providing expert advice on matters such as business acquisitions and sales, mergers, capital funding, fraud detection, insolvency, and taxation
• Reviewing operational costs, income, and expenditure to assess financial performance
• Providing assurance on the accuracy and compliance of financial reports with statutory and regulatory requirements
• Offering strategic financial and taxation advice on business structures, planning, and operations
• Preparing and lodging tax returns for individuals and organisations
• Liaising with banks, financial institutions, and brokers to arrange and manage funding solutions
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining accounting systems, including advising on the selection and use of computerised accounting software
• Maintaining and improving internal financial control systems
• Assessing cash flow and evaluating financial risks associated with capital investment projects

• Assisting the finance team with end of month matters and other day to day processing/reporting
• Communicating with different teams regarding their day-to-day operations and integration/dependencies with finance team.
• Responding to ad hoc request for reporting with accounts focus from senior executives and internal groups.

• Degree qualification in Accounting (or similar discipline)
• Preferable with at least 12 months experience in a similar position
• Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, common sense and the ability to problem solve.
• Proficiency with accounting software highly desirable
• Good IT skills, including intermediary to advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Understanding of accounts payable practices & processes
