We are currently seeking an experienced Requirements Engineer to join our team in Melbourne.

About the Role:

As a Requirements Engineer, you will ensure that operator and maintenance needs are captured, maintained, and delivered through the design and lifecycle of rail systems. You will work closely with technical teams to ensure designs, work packages, and deliverables meet operational, safety, and maintainability requirements. Key responsibilities include:

  • Documenting and validating operational and maintenance requirements across system designs.
  • Supporting design reviews and ensuring outputs comply with the Requirements Management Framework.
  • Developing and maintaining traceability matrices linking operational needs to system specifications and contractor requirements.
  • Managing requirement changes, assessing impacts, and ensuring updates are communicated effectively.
  • Supporting verification, testing, and validation to confirm systems meet operational and maintenance functionality.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure operational needs are embedded throughout the system lifecycle.
  • Producing reporting and dashboards to track requirements status and compliance.

About You:

You're a technically-minded requirements professional with rail industry experience. You excel at translating operational needs into clear, actionable requirements, and can manage these through the system lifecycle using industry-standard tools. You work well across teams and enjoy ensuring technical integrity from design to operations.

  • Tertiary qualification in engineering or related discipline.
  • 5+ years' experience in requirements engineering, ideally in rail.
  • Skilled in DOORS NG or similar requirements management tools.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering and MBSE.
  • Knowledge of ISO 15288 and ISO 29148 standards.
  • Experience integrating sub-systems to meet overall system performance.
  • Able to interpret, scope, and write technical requirements clearly.
  • Experience managing changes to technical baselines.
  • Familiarity with rail operations and maintenance.
  • Excel VBA, SQL, or advanced DNG reporting experience a plus.
