About the role

We're looking for an experienced and energetic Mobile Vehicle Inspector to join our team in Melbourne. This role involves inspecting vehicles we're considering purchasing, primarily across the northern suburbs, with occasional travel to other regions as needed.

The key purpose of this position is to complete vehicle inspections quickly and thoroughly, providing accurate and detailed reports on each vehicle's mechanical and cosmetic condition.

Some of the responsibilities & duties will include:

  • Conduct visual and mechanical inspections of vehicles, providing accurate and comprehensive reports to support purchasing decisions.
  • Liaise daily with the Purchasing Team and Booking Coordinator to coordinate inspection schedules and updates.
  • Communicate professionally with customers to arrange and confirm inspection appointments.
  • Negotiate with customers, under the direction of the Purchasing Managers, where inspection findings may impact the final offer price.
  • Finalise transactions by completing electronic purchase contracts with customers following successful inspections.

Skills and experience

  • Solid mechanical background with the ability to identify and assess mechanical faults accurately.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the confidence to liaise effectively with customers and team members.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional and friendly approach.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and take initiative in the field.
