Wanslea are seeking an experienced and compassionate Family Support Worker to play a key role in the delivery of the Grandcare Program, providing practical, emotional and financial support to grandcarers.

About you

You are a compassionate and dedicated professional with a background in community services, counselling, or a related field, and a genuine passion for supporting families. With experience working alongside carers or families facing complex challenges, you bring a trauma-informed, culturally safe, and respectful approach to your work.

You thrive in roles that require empathy, initiative, and a high level of organisation. Whether it's conducting needs assessments, providing practical and emotional support, or connecting people to vital services, you are skilled at building trust and navigating sensitive conversations with care, especially over the phone.

You understand the unique pressures faced by grandcarers and kinship carers, including financial hardship, trauma, and intergenerational parenting. You are confident using client management systems, maintaining accurate records, and juggling administrative tasks alongside frontline support.

Ideally, you also bring experience in group facilitation or community engagement, and are comfortable working flexibly whether online, regionally, or in outreach settings. You are approachable, proactive, and driven by a strong commitment to improving the wellbeing of families and children.
