Hawkins Transport QLD is looking for an Assistant Depot Manager to join our Cairns team.

Our company transports both general and refrigerated freight from Cairns to the Gulf of Carpentaria, Cape, and various remote communities on a weekly basis.

Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

  • Assist the Depot Manager with day-to-day operations
  • Coordinate and oversee loading and unloading of freight
  • Support drivers with delivery schedules and documentation
  • Allocate freight, equipment, and vehicles according to load plans
  • Monitor depot workflow to ensure schedules are met
  • Liaise with other depots, drivers, and office staff to maintain smooth operations
  • Ensure safe and efficient handling of freight and equipment
  • General yard and housekeeping duties as required

Ideal Candidates Will Have:

  • Minimum 3+ years' experience in transport, logistics, or depot operations
  • Strong organisational and coordination skills
  • Knowledge of heavy vehicles and equipment
  • Forklift licence (preferred)
  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and people skills
  • MC licence desirable , minimum HC required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
