We are recruiting for a Financial Controller on behalf of a leading privately-owned business with operations across wholesale, retail, online, and manufacturing sectors. About the Role:
As the Financial Controller, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial health of the company. You'll oversee the preparation of financial reports, ensure compliance with Australian statutory regulations, and provide key financial insights to support strategic decision-making. This role involves leadership responsibilities, including mentoring a high-performing finance team and integrating ERP systems to streamline operations.
Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Financial Reporting & Compliance: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and IFRS.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with GST, BAS, PAYG, and corporate tax regulations.
  • Management Reporting: Present key financial metrics such as Sales Per Square Metre, Average Transaction Value, and Inventory Turnover.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead annual budgeting processes and monitor performance.
  • Retail Performance Analysis: Provide insights on retail metrics and collaborate with department heads to align financial goals.
  • Audit & Compliance: Manage relationships with external auditors and ensure all statutory obligations are met.
What We're Looking For:
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
    • CA or CPA or CMA certifications are highly desirable.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
    • Experience in a multi-channel business (wholesale, retail, online, manufacturing).
    • Expertise in key retail and inventory metrics.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of Australian statutory requirements (GST, BAS, PAYG).
    • Proficiency in ERP systems and financial reporting software.
    • Advanced Excel skills and financial modelling expertise.
    • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
