Someone who is experienced and well trained and understands how to handle mental health conditions, complex physical support, and specific behaviours.

About the Role

The successful candidate will need to have flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, public holidays, and overnight shifts.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Home and Community Care, Aged Care, Individual Support, Disability, Mental Health (Working towards or willing to obtain
  • Industry experience in Australia or personal lived experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of disability support work experience in Australia is required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable Vehicle
  • Comprehensive Car Insurance
  • First Aid certificate
  • CPR certificate
  • Current Working with Children Check for paid roles (or willing to obtain)
  • Current Police check (or willing to obtain)
  • NDIS Modules (or willing to obtain)
  • A smartphone that has access to the internet and the ability to download rostering app
  • Proof of vaccination
  • Australian work authorisation is required at time of application

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Where required, assist individuals to undertake a range of activities of daily living, including personal and self-care, eating, and maintenance of personal hygiene, using the principles of active support.
  • Support individuals to use their preferred method of communication and assist them to be understood, listened to, and responded to at all times.
  • Work effectively with people who have high physical needs and/or behaviors of concern, implementing manual handling assessments and/or behavior support plans as required and in keeping with Top Disability Care Accommodation and Respite procedures and policies.
  • Maintain documentation, records, and data collection as required and in accordance with the relevant legislation and Top Disability Care Accommodation and Respite policies.
  • Interact and communicate with other team members in the interests of service users and of achieving a consistent approach to service provision.
