What's the opportunity?

The Government Engagement Specialist is responsible for supporting successful engagement with Australian government partners in the delivery of Telstra Health's major service delivery contracts, including through:

  • Delivering best-practice government customer engagement on behalf of Telstra Health ensuring we meet and exceed customer expectations in the delivery of key service contracts.
  • Supporting and advising internal Telstra Health teams to ensure customer needs are prioritised and met.
  • Producing highest quality written materials for government audiences, positioning Telstra Health for success
  • Representing Telstra Health's interests and positions in high-level meetings with government customers.

About the role:

Relationship Management

  • Deliver best-practice engagement through the development and maintenance of trusted relationships with Telstra Health's government departmental customers for service delivery contracts.
  • Represent Telstra Health in high-level meetings with government stakeholders, advocating for the organisation's strategic interests supporting successful delivery.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively to government customers on behalf of TH showing tact, judgement and strategic awareness in all engagements.
  • Develop, review, and edit high-quality written communications for a government audience such as briefings, reports, presentations, proposals, and official correspondence.
  • Maintain ongoing monitoring of key customer issues or concerns relating to TH delivery and support internal teams to manage, respond and remediate.
  • Coordinate and manage a schedule of government customer meetings, events, and engagements which ensures positive positioning for Telstra Health.
  • Monitor and manage internal customer engagement to ensure timely submission of high-quality deliverables and communications.
  • Maintain up-to-date stakeholder contact lists, engagement plans, and communications calendars.

Strategic Engagement

  • Support Telstra Health's strategic goals through understanding and sharing core government customer needs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure customer priorities and requirements are well understood, championed, and integrated across service delivery.
  • Support in the establishment and delivery of stakeholder engagement strategies for key government customers that support Telstra Health's successful delivery of key service delivery contracts.
  • Maintain working knowledge of relevant government priorities, policy frameworks, and programs and advise internal stakeholders.

Monitoring and reporting

  • Track and document customer interactions and follow-ups to maintain a clear record of relationship history and progress.
  • Maintain ongoing monitoring of relationships with key departmental contacts and provide regular reporting on status and priority actions and deliverables to support optimized engagement.

About you:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in public policy, communications, healthcare, business, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in government relations, stakeholder engagement, or public sector service delivery, preferably in the health or technology sectors.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to prepare materials tailored for government audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, with experience engaging senior government stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate effectively in complex and high-stakes environments with a focus on problem-solving and customer outcomes.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to interpret information and provide informed analysis
  • High levels of organisation, responsibility, self-motivation, and personal commitment.
  • Familiarity with government procurement and contract management processes is desirable.
