You are a strategic thinker and technical leader with a passion for shaping the future of mission-critical systems. With deep experience in engineering delivery and domain expertise in Mission & Support Systems (e.g. HF communications), you thrive in complex environments where innovation, compliance, and collaboration intersect.
You've built up solid experience in engineering, backed by a recognised qualification and hands-on knowledge of the tools that keep complex projects running smoothly, whether it's managing product lifecycles, planning resources, or designing and testing solutions.
About The Role
As Domain Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for shaping the technical direction of the business, through developing opportunity pipelines, guiding solution architecture for bids, and ensuring engineering delivery aligns with both customer needs and future growth. You'll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, acting as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor throughout campaigns and programs.
From leading investigations and managing technical risk to supporting workforce planning and regional engineering hub development, your influence will span across strategy, delivery, governance, and team development. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex environments, enjoys solving big-picture challenges, and is ready to help build a safer, smarter future through engineering excellence.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Improve regional safety performance by strengthening a safety focussed engineering approach, enabling safe operation for all situations, current and future.
- Deliver a Babcock Australasian Mission & Support Services Engineering Strategy consistent with the overall business strategy. The plan should cover both Required Capability and Strategic Workforce Planning, with strong links into the Technology Plan.
- Applying expertise in regulatory frameworks and standards, to guide programs through regulatory compliance, safety, design, test & validation and generation of supporting evidence for certification.
To be successful you will bring:
- Australian Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain Commonwealth Security Clearance.
- Hands-on experience with engineering tools like PLM, MRP, and simulation software.
- Hold an accredited (under the Washington Accord) bachelor's degree in engineering or hold the recognised engineering qualifications to be eligible to obtain Professional Engineer category membership through a recognised body.
- Completed additional training in engineering/technical/management specialism.
