About The Opportunity
We are seeking a Forensic Engineer to provide expert advice on all things forensic engineering in our Melbourne CRD Team. CRD is a division of Crawford which offers Engineering, Quantity Surveying and Building Consultancy services to the insurance industry. To learn more about CRD, then please visit
As a Forensic Engineer, You Will Be
- Inspecting and reporting on building related matters i.e., preparing causation reports on defects and damages to buildings and associated structures
- Providing technical advice and detailed scope of works and cost estimates in accordance with Australian Standards and Building Code of Australia
- Dealing with a variety of stakeholders at any given time, including Insureds, general public, builders and insurers
About You
The role will suit candidates who can demonstrate:
- Sound technical experience in Forensic Engineering (min 3+ years)
- Excellent technical report writing skills
- Excellent client relationship and communication skills
- High motivation, responsibility, sound judgement and customer focus
- Previous experience documenting and leading a diverse range of projects
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced consulting environment with competing demands
- Strong commercial and business sense
Key Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably structural engineering)
- Chartered Engineer (CPEng) or National Engineering Register (NER) qualified
- At least 3 years' experience as a Civil/Structural Engineer
- A thorough knowledge of the Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment; preferably within the insurance industry
- Experience working with legal firms and insurance companies (highly desirable)
- Ability to scope and estimate cost of repairs to domestic, commercial and industrial properties
- Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
