Lionheart is currently seeking a Disability Support Worker to join our dynamic team. As a support worker, you will work closely with individuals with disabilities to help them achieve their goals and live their lives to the fullest.

We're looking for someone who thrives in a team environment, is flexible with their roster, and is willing to do active overnights. You'll need to be a good communicator, have a compassionate nature and be able to work well under pressure. We have a range of shifts from daytime to overnights.

Position Responsibilities

Lionheart is currently seeking a Disability Support Worker to join our dynamic team. As a support worker, you will work closely with individuals with disabilities to help them achieve their goals and live their lives to the fullest.

This is based on the premise that people with disability can:

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


• Supporting participants with personal care needs


• Supporting participants with activities of daily living such as cleaning or cooking


• Performing home based tasks such as meal preparation


• Undertaking tasks outside the home such as shopping or recreation activities such as playing sport or attending the movies


• Supporting a varied program of activities


• Providing emotional support and compassion


• Reporting any incidents in a timely manner


• Promote and encourage independence


• Abiding by all policies and procedures


• Communicating with families, carers


• Report any misconduct


• Problem solves behaviours of concerns with staff


• Choice and control in all aspects of individual decision making


• Developing relevant documentation to post on signal and around housing.

Accountabilities

Provide relevant supports as listed above

Maintain an empowering environment for people with disability

Advocate for people with disability

Be creative and informed in developing means of communication with people with disability

Maintain client records by recording support notes for each shift and recording any other information required as per organisational policies.

Participate in meetings as required

Maintain participants confidentiality

Communicate openly and honestly

Maintain OHS

Complete all mandatory training

Read and sign all policies and procedures

Employment Requirements

Current Level 2 First Aid

Current CPR

Working with Children Check

Current Victorian Drivers Licence/Comprehensive Insurance

NDIS Worker Screening Clearance

NDIS Worker Orientation Module (Certificate of Completion)

Covid Vaccination Certification

Key Selection Criteria

A good understanding of the principles of NDIS and the Disability Act 2006

Clear communication and ability to be adaptable and professional in communicating

Reliability in attending shifts

Ability to listen to, understand and implement feedback

Ability to implement behaviour management strategies consistently with a person's Behaviour Support Plan and relevant protocols

Polite and considerate when dealing with others

Ability to respond to participant needs promptly

Ability to understand and utilise organisational policies to guide work ethic, acting in a way that is consistent with Lionhearts Code of Conduct

Participant focused – actively listens to participants and seeks to improve service to delivery high quality supports

Ability to empathise and show compassion

Be aware, understanding and accepting of a diverse range of cultural backgrounds

Works well in a team and is able to cooperate and collaborate with respect and consideration
