Are you passionate about food and delivering exceptional service? UNE Life is seeking a dynamic and skilled Chef or Cook to join our growing kitchen team as we expand into new and existing areas Working alongside our Head Chef, you'll help create outstanding meals, ensuring quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction across various food outlets from Cafes to Bistros and to Events and everything in between.

A chef or cook helps to lead the kitchen, crafting delicious dishes, with the added benefit of regular hours between 7am and 4pm, Monday to Friday. This role offers a great work-life balance, with only occasional nights or weekends for events or rugby, allowing you to enjoy your evenings and most weekends free. Perfect for those who appreciate a predictable schedule

You'll help craft delicious meals, assist with exciting events, and ensure our kitchen shines. Your culinary skills will create a safe, vibrant, and mouthwatering dining experience for all our students, staff, and guests. Whether it's whipping up everyday meals or serving up something special for events, you'll be the star of the show

What's cooking in this role?

  • Work alongside our Head Chef to create stunning menus and delicious dishes
  • Keep the kitchen running smoothly with food prep, production, and stock control
  • Help manage waste and maintain high food safety standards (because we all know burnt toast isn't the only thing we want to avoid)
  • Bring your creativity to the table by helping develop new menu items that leave people coming back for more

The Method For a Chef Extraordinaire:

  • Relevant qualifications and kitchen experience (if you've got the skills, we've got the apron)
  • A true passion for delivering top-notch customer service and a great student experience
  • A strong understanding of food safety and handling (because no one wants a "mystery meat" situation)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills (we need someone who can handle both the heat of the kitchen and a good laugh)
  • Impeccable organisational skills – multitasking is your middle name
  • Ability to keep your cool under pressure (because that oven's not going to wait)
  • A go-getter attitude with a sprinkle of flexibility and a whole lot of initiative
  • A killer work ethic, a positive vibe, and a team spirit

Special Ingredients We Need:

  • Be ready to act as an Emergency Warden (we'll train you, but you'll feel like a superhero)
  • Food Safety Supervisor – you're the kitchen's safety captain
