Cranebrook High School is a comprehensive co-educational high school serving a diverse community in Western Sydney with an enrolment of 860 students. 20% of the school population identifies as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 5% of students are from a non-English speaking background. Cranebrook High School has a large Support Faculty, catering for 80 students with intellectual, behavioural and physical disabilities, that focuses on social and learning inclusivity. The Learning Support Team is high functioning, has a significant level of experience and expertise and supports students from years 7 to 12 with a range of effective initiatives and programs. The school has a dynamic student leadership group that contributes significantly to the local community and has developed strong links with local community groups in order to support and improve student learning and wellbeing outcomes and post-school options for students. The highly committed teaching and support staff is diverse in terms of experience and expertise.
Selection CriteriaApproval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students with disability including intensive learning support - mental health and behaviour, mild and moderate intellectual disabilities, autism and emotional disturbance.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all key stakeholders to meet the complex and dynamic needs of a support classroom with a range of student abilities.
Demonstrated ability to collaboratively plan, implement and evaluate individualised teaching and learning plans and programs across all Key Learning Areas which reflect the needs and aspirations of individual students.
Demonstrated capacity and understanding to meet the educational, social and cultural needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
