About The Position
Are you ready to take the helm of our Burnie site? We provide portside storage, quality control, domestic processing, marshalling and logistics solutions for export of allied wood products within Australia. We're on the lookout for a dynamic Regional Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Tasmania business.

The position is based in Burnie on a permanent, full-time basis and is reporting to the General Manager of Operations. As the Regional Manager, your adaptability and proactive approach are key. Responsibilities include managing daily operations and driving the development of business opportunities and efficiencies whilst simultaneously fostering strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. We are seeking a candidate with a strategic focus to drive the execution of high-level initiatives that further the objectives of our business.

Key Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To

  • Overseeing all operational and people matters including communications, recruitment, training & development, recognition, and wellbeing.
  • Ensure relevant and effective performance management objectives are in place for employees that reflect the operational plan.
  • Manage day-to-day employment and industrial relations issues.
  • Monitor fixed and variable operational costs against budget.
  • Ensure corrective measures are used where necessary to ensure that the budget variances are within agreed limits.
  • Ensure that average controllable costs for production, maintenance, marshalling, and stevedoring is in-line with current log and chip export costings and budget.
  • Develop an intimate knowledge of local resources and supplier capability.
  • Ensure that the wood flow forecast is accurate so that ship and sales planning can be done accurately.
  • Oversee the daily management of the receival, dispatch, storage, manufacturing and shipping of round logs and woodchips.

About You
To be considered for this challenging and exciting position, you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • 3-5 years' experience in managing a business function, preferably in Forestry or manufacturing.
  • Degree in a business, accounting, manufacturing, engineering, logistics or related area preferred.
  • Demonstrated proven experience in developing and leading a team in a similar field.
  • The ability to influence change whilst being results-oriented and driven to succeed.
  • Exceptional communication skills - both verbal and written
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to plan and organise.
  • Strong relationship building, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Good computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are essential
  • Ability to be agile and think on your feet.
  • Exceptional ability to lead a team.
  • Prior Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) experience well regarded.
