Primary objective
Undertake regulatory and compliance activities, and associated administrative functions, across the range of legislative
frameworks administered by the agency throughout the Northern Territory. Support compliance outcomes through a
solution-focused approach, while providing guidance, education and awareness to community and industry.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Apply and administer relevant legislation, exercising statutory powers and responsibilities where delegated.
2. Carry out regulatory and compliance activities under a range of licensing and association laws, in line with the agency's
compliance and enforcement program.
3. Support compliance processes, including monitoring, audits, handling complaints, conducting investigations, and
preparing documentation for possible enforcement or prosecution.
4. Prepare clear and accurate reports, correspondence, and briefings for senior staff and Ministers, as required.
5. Contribute to improving compliance practices and support continuous improvement within the agency.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures, supported by strong analytical, problem-
solving, investigative and research skills.
2. Well-developed written communication skills, with experience preparing clear and accurate reports, correspondence and
briefing material that support decision-making.
3. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide advice, negotiate, and work
collaboratively with diverse stakeholders in both government and industry.
4. Proven ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment, and work effectively both independently and as
part of a team in a busy environment.
5. Experience in delivering customer service with empathy and professionalism, including the ability to understand complex
issues and engage effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Desirable
1. Completion of a Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) is highly desirable.
2. Current Driver's Licence.
3. Qualification in Law, Accounting or Public Administration.
