ABOUT THE ROLE

The Account Director plays a pivotal role in driving the growth, performance, and profitability of The Digital Picnic's paid media division. This isn't just a client-facing leadership role—it's a team-defining, standard-setting, culture-building position that directly shapes the experience of both our clients and our internal team.

Leading a team of paid media specialists, the Account Director is responsible for ensuring all campaigns are executed to the highest strategic and creative standards, while consistently hitting monthly revenue targets and maintaining high client retention. They are a strong commercial thinker who can interpret performance data, oversee cross-channel strategies, and work closely with department heads to forecast growth, innovate on service delivery, and scale intelligently.

At the core of this role is leadership. You'll coach, mentor, and manage a high-performing team—creating the conditions for people to do the best work of their careers. You'll provide regular feedback, lead with clarity and care, and ensure every direct report understands their role in delivering both client outcomes and agency-wide growth.

Business development is key—this person will collaborate with our Head of Digital & Group Digital Director to help shape proposals, close deals, and deepen existing client relationships.

And as a senior leader at TDP, the Account Director will actively live and promote our values, helping to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Lead and inspire a high-performing paid media team:
    provide strategic oversight, clear direction, and ongoing coaching to a team of Paid Media Specialists, ensuring delivery of outstanding campaign results across Meta and Google platforms.

  • Ensure departmental profitability and revenue growth:
    own monthly revenue targets across your portfolio, driving performance across the team to consistently meet [and exceed] revenue and margin goals.

  • Client relationship and account growth:
    cultivate strong, lasting relationships with clients through strategic leadership, proactive communication, and consistently high-quality campaign delivery.

  • Campaign quality and performance excellence:
    oversee the delivery of best-in-class paid advertising campaigns across Meta and Google, ensuring strategic alignment, performance optimisation, and clear reporting that drives measurable ROI.

  • Capacity planning and workflow management:
    own the planning, prioritisation and resource allocation for your team, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and at the high standard expected.

  • Senior-level paid ads expertise:
    bring depth of knowledge in paid advertising [particularly Meta and Google], guiding technical strategy across accounts and supporting team members on complex campaign builds and optimisations.

  • Leadership and talent development:
    champion a growth mindset within your team—investing in career development, performance management, and feedback frameworks that unlock potential and support long-term team retention.

  • Business development and upsell strategy:
    identify and pursue upsell opportunities within your client portfolio, working in collaboration with the Head of Digital & Group Digital Director to convert those opportunities into revenue.

  • Contribute to executive leadership:
    as a member of the broader management team, play an active role in shaping the future direction of the agency—including innovation in services, resourcing models, and team culture.

  • Financial oversight and reporting:
    monitor project profitability, team billable hours, and resource utilisation to ensure efficiency and ongoing alignment with commercial objectives.
