About the Role

Federal Government is seeking experienced
Project Managers
to lead and deliver critical initiatives across the agency. These roles will focus on supporting inflight projects within
Intelligence Operations, Intelligence and Information Systems, the National Police Checking Service, and Corporate & Enabling Services.

This is an excellent opportunity for seasoned project professionals to play a vital role in strengthening Australia's law enforcement and intelligence capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Manage and deliver complex business and/or technical projects with a minimum of
    5 years of proven Project Management experience
    .
  • Map dependencies across projects and programs, and schedule initiatives within a broader program of work.
  • Apply, adapt, and work across
    multiple delivery methodologies
    (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
  • Engage and influence
    internal and external stakeholders
    to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to budget.
  • Lead program governance activities, including planning, financial management, risk and issue tracking, reporting, and benefits realization.
  • Promote program vision and foster a
    collaborative team culture
    .
  • Prepare and present
    Board papers and briefing materials
    for SES-level audiences.
  • Manage procurement processes and oversee third-party vendor contracts.
  • Build strong working relationships and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Show resilience and adaptability in navigating ambiguity and competing priorities.

Essential Criteria

Candidates must address the following criteria (3000 character limit per response):

1. Project Management Expertise (40%)

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in delivery of complex projects.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and influence.
  • Strong governance experience (planning, financials, risks, dependencies, reporting).
  • Proficiency in delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).

2. Leadership & Vendor Management (30%)

  • Proven ability to build and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience promoting program vision and collaborative culture.
  • Demonstrated experience engaging and managing third-party vendors.

3. Communication & Resilience (30%)

  • Strong communication skills with experience preparing
    Board/SES-level briefings
    .
  • Ability to build stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven resilience and flexibility to deliver under pressure.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working in
    small to medium-sized Federal Government agencies
    .
  • Project Management certifications
    (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP, Agile).
  • Knowledge of
    Essential Eight, ISM, and security maturity frameworks
    .
  • Experience in
    Intelligence or Law Enforcement projects
    .
