We're currently seeking a
Project Manager
to lead the
transition of ICT services
from an internal arrangement to a shared services model, working with the
Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS)
. This is a high-profile, full-time opportunity to work
onsite at Government House
in Canberra.

About the Role

As the Project Manager, you'll be
at the centre of a major digital shift
, ensuring business continuity, cost-effectiveness, and strategic alignment across a complex stakeholder landscape.

Your Core Duties Will Include:

1. Develop and implement
   an ICT strategy aligned with agency goals and business outcomes.
2. Oversee the transition
   of ICT services to DPS, ensuring value for money and fit-for-purpose outcomes.
3. Support a four-person in-house ICT team
   through the transition, offering both technical and managerial leadership.
4. Engage across the agency
   , working closely with business leaders to ensure that evolving technology needs are fully understood and integrated into planning.
5. Negotiate and manage contracts
   , agreements, and stakeholder expectations across multiple layers of government.
6. Bridge the technical and non-technical divide
   — translating complex ICT issues into clear guidance and actionable insights.
7. Champion security and reliability
   in all ICT systems, implementing proactive strategies to reduce risk and protect sensitive government data.
8. Manage day-to-day ICT operations
   , including team performance, resourcing, and budget oversight.

Essential Criteria – What You'll Bring

Financial Management (SFIA Level 4)

Monitor and maintain financial records to meet audit and compliance requirements

Support cost modelling for ICT services, processes, and projects

Compile financial data to support planning and decision-making

Project Management (SFIA Level 5)

Take ownership of the definition, delivery, and completion of medium-scale ICT projects

Apply appropriate methodologies and tools (Agile, PMBOK, PRINCE2 etc.)

Oversee change control and risk management processes

Maintain project plans and provide timely updates to stakeholders

Ensure deliverables are completed on time, on budget, and to expected quality

Drive stakeholder acceptance and alignment of final products

Lead quality reviews and take corrective actions as required

Stakeholder Relationship Management (SFIA Level 5)

Understand and map out stakeholder communication and engagement needs

Translate strategic communications into tangible engagement activities

Facilitate open discussions and information flow across all levels

Act as the
single point of contact
for the project – building and maintaining trust

Support informed decision-making by capturing and disseminating key insights

Represent the agency in both business and technical settings with confidence
